In the Plant Protein Factory at SLU, research is underway that examines the possibilities of better utilizing the resources in so-called green mass in the future, for example sugar beet leaves and beet pulp.
The plant protein factory started as a long-term venture between SLU researchers, SLU Holding and a handful of innovative companies. The goal was to scale up techniques and test the business potential of plant proteins and other nutrients from unused green mass.
Today there is an established facility for the extraction and purification of plant proteins in Alnarp.
